Intensive study of media "texts," broadly defined, that launch new modes and genres, reflect upon their own media practices and project new ones, represent the migration of narratives and expansion of story worlds, and reveal important aspects of media in transition across history, geography, and media technologies. Texts may include performance, novels, films, comics, television series, fanfic, and digital games. Emphasis is on experiencing primary sources rather than critical and theoretical writing. Repeatable for credit with permission of instructor. Limited to 18.
