Synthesizes computer science technologies underlying cryptocurrency, blockchain, tokenization, platforms, and computational algorithms with economics and its use of contracts, mechanism design, general equilibrium, and monetary theory. Topics include: legacy systems in developed and developing economies; technological change; the impact of distributed ledgers, smart contracts, and encryption; the optimal allocation of risk; market structure; and optimized regulation. Explores new financial designs for industry, digital companies, central banks, and international organizations. Students taking graduate version complete additional assignments.
